Audio Video Navigation

There are two distinct OEM AVN systems that Subaru have used so far. Through 2008 and 2009 Subaru has been progressively changing the AVN system used to a newer system.
First OEM AVN System
Identified by a button-less touch screen panel with 5 separate buttons underneath. Custom size. Used in:
- MY09 and earlier Legacy/Liberty Outback
- MY07 and earlier Forester
This system is broken up into distinct components:
- Audio system
- HVAC system (although not part of the AVN system, this component is integrated in the head unit)
- Navigation system
- Audio Amplifier (for premium audio model)
- TV Monitor (LCD Touch Panel)
- XM Satellite Radio module (for US models)
Some of these components are combined and are in different locations depending on the model and region of the car.

Australian MY07 Forester
- Head Unit Model ???

Australian MY08 Liberty 2.5i Limited Edition with Navigation
- Head Unit Model FZDA07MRHF2 - Unknown Kenwood Equivalent
- Nav Model unknown as it is integrated in head unit
- Navigation system integrated with audio and HVAC in head unit
- Single DVD Drive for CD/MP3/WMA/DVD
- Single DVD Drive for navigation map disk
- Uses standard 13/14 pin Subaru audio harness for speaker level outputs, power etc
- Has additional 24 pin harness for car signals, AUX in/out, video in/out sub out which is documented here:
Australian MY08 Liberty Premium, GT, 3.0R and Spec. B.
- Head Unit Model ???

- Subaru Australia reports that this setup is different to the 2.5i LE with Nav
- Mcintosh premium audio

Second OEM AVN System
Identified by 5 buttons and 1 jog dial on either side of the touch panel. Standard 2 DIN size Used in:
- MY08 and later Impreza
- MY08 and later Forester?
